Bassist Gil Barron plays everything from Latin to classic rock to pop to smooth jazz to old school R & B – this guy has it covered. Completely self-taught, Gil has been playing guitar, bass, piano and singing for over 30 years. He first began learning the guitar after hearing the Beatles as a teenager. He then picked up a bass after hearing John Taylor of Duran Duran. A fortunate circumstance, no?
Keyboardist Curt Clendenin is an Orphan in the ‘Blues Brothers’ and learned improv in Chicago from Sheldon Patinkin. Curt’s radio show ‘Inspirado Projecto’ can be heard periodically on KCHUNG 1630AM. He is seen in the upcoming documentary, ‘Kaufman Lives’ and grindhouse horror, “Bloody Bobby.”
Guitarist Daniel Coffeng originally hails from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, but now lives in Los Angeles. He was exposed to a lot of different music and cultures from all over the world. He’s an honors graduate from the Guitar Institute of Technology. Daniel is Rio’s newest member joining the band in the Summer of 2015.
Singer Jason “Jake” Jacobs hails from Youngstown, Ohio but it wasn’t until 1991 in Orlando, Florida that his vocal career began. Jake studied theatre at UCF and sang in a funk rock band called Shock Lizard. He left O-town in 1998 to head to Los Angeles, California to pursue acting. That lasted about 48 hours. Jake hooked up with former college buddy George Castells and formed Adora Vida, an original rock act that still performs to this day, earning him a Los Angeles male rock vocalist nomination in 2006.
Drummer Danny Alfaro teamed up with Rio during the Summer of 2010. He completes Rio’s sound locking in thunderous drums with powerful beats needed for a live, high-energy performance. A SoCal local, Danny has been in the music scene for over two decades and has toured worldwide with notable bands such as The Bullet Boys and Total Chaos.
